Just Call Me Jake

Am a Navy Vet of the Korean War Era, but was lucky, my first duty station was in North Africa, where a Navy Mail Clerk hung the handle of "Jake the Snake"on me. This nickname stayed with me through my Navy tour of duty, but was modified in my truck driving days due to my fondness for rootbeer and the Tom T. Hall song, "Sneaky Snake," which became my handle on the "C B" air waves.

My wife Debbie, known as "CCMouse", or "MomJ" in cyberland was kind enough to build a Navy Web Site Reflections for me. She also built Remembering---A Tribute To Veterans a web site which she dedicated to our two oldest sons, myslf, and to honor all those who have served in the service of their country the world over.


We are the proud parents of six children, four boys, two girls and the Grandpaents of six, 4 girls and two boys.

Stamp Collecting Interests

Since 1944 stamp collecting has been an off and on hobby for me, with my main interests being in U.S. and Canada. Through the years we have collected a lot of World Wide as well, from buying collections. Some of which we have been trying to sell off since retiring in 1998.

This is a recent photo that was sumitted to the USCS Monthly Log, when I was choosen as Member of The Month

In more recent years have gotten into Naval Cover Collecting, mostly covers from the Essex Class Fast Aircraft Carriers of the WWII Era. Having served aboard one of these the USS VALLEY FORGE CVA45 after my tour of duty in Port Lyautey prompted me into collecting this type of ship covers.

Have been both a buyer and seller on E-Bay since 1999, and at Stampoffers since 2003, have been fortunate enough to have retained an all positive feedback. Am a member of the APS, USCS, Life Member of the American Legion and DAV.

Oh BTW, forgot to say that CCmouse is also a stamp collector, a hobby she has enjoyed since childhood. This eliminates some of the problems that some stamp hobbyists have, except when it comes to us both wanting the same items.LOL
