CrazyBob G.
Your three "Metered Stamp" Covers arrived safely, two late yesterday & one late this afternoon.
Know there will be a Thank You Note forth comming from TINA when she can get to it this week end.
Tomorrow she works her one day a month, for most of the day at our local Senior Center with their seniors food program, then she has her regular Special Needs Rec. program tomorrow night and Saturday she has another special needs rec, program, these are good for her & gives her something outside the home she can do.

Mike I heard Phil (the groundhog) died of heat stroke when he crawled out of his hole this a.m.

We are supposed to get up into the mid sixties again today. This time of year it's usually wishful thinking to hope to get above freezing.
Going back out today to work on my brothers new garage roof.
One of the last things I would be thinking about doing this time of year.
I thought he was stupid to start the project at the beginning of the year.

Good morning all from NC!!!! Nice 55F temp right now, sunny and going up to 70F this afternoon. Guess we will get the mulching mower out and use it to mow down the front and pick up the leafs at the same time. I think Phil the Groundhog got it wrong this morning as it is looking like spring time down here.

Here is a picture of NAS Chatham, MA. here on the Cape, that operated as blimp station during WWI, also it was where the NC-4 stopped for repairs during their TransAtlantic flight. It was located in an area now called Chathamport,l only reminder is a small maker where the air station once was.

I did not consider that, but it may be a forgery or else a new item that was not reported in 82. The set is also noted in Michel without overprint so someone may have created their own from some of these.

Stampfarm, Bob Thank you for the info. I completely missed #406. Sometimes I look for an item so long I can't see straight. LOL

Interesting information about the Luxembourg item- maybe a forgery or counterfeit???

Thank you for taking the time to answer. Mike

I just sent you links to where you can place bids, on your Argentina want list. Looks like you can get them all 1264-1313 I also tried to keep them within 1 or 2 sellers in order to reduce the shipping charges

Your Polish stamp is Scott # 406 Orange, issued perf. or imperf.
No footnote to direct you to the other set of the same designs.

On your Luxemburg item, My 1982 Michel footnotes 2 values of this set
overprinted PS instead of SP but not the one you show.
They mention the 25 c value at 200 Dm and the 5 fr at 250 Dm.
This would be an error caused by shifted printing.

Hope everyone is having a great day on Wensy.

Hi, all Wensy friends! Can anyone tell me if this overprint error
Photobucket
is listed in the Michel or another catalog. I'm trying to value this item, but only have a Scott catalog and it's not listed in Scott's. The overprint should be "S. P." but appears as "P. S." probably due to misalignment when being overprinted. Mike

Good evening all from Ottawa, Canada.

CPO II Sneeky: I was on Weymouth Air Naval Station in 1982. My brother was in a hockey tournament and the team stayed in the barracks and ate at the mess hall for five days. There were U.S.M.C. F-4 Phantoms flying off the runway. We even had a snowball fight with the Marine Corps! I'll find the pictures and scan them and put them up here, or e-mail them to you.

Sneeky, Sorry for my memory lapse. I would definitely only want to leave a most positive feedback for you. I guess what confused me were that the stamps were sent to th rev. I did thank you for the two generous packets which will aLSO be forwarded to the REV.

Why, thank you Jake <:~`))

Philb I've tried to send you an email, several times this a.m., but it seems my email is on the fritz again.
Stamps arrived safe and sound to day, thank you!
I had a quick look at your list and should have most everything before #500 in used.
Including the special phonograph record stamp set
I made up a quick list from yours and it put it online here.
Go ahead and copy and paste it into word pad notepad or whatever you want.
Then go ahead and add everything else up to around 1975 you need.
Don't forget the airs, semis and officials.
I have most of the semis in dupes but they are mostly mint. Fairly good showing of airs except zepp ovpts.
Is mint o.k. if I don't have used?
I'll try and go through my stock tonight so if you can add to the list before that, It would be helpful.
No problem if not, but I will try and send whatever I pick tonight, out tomorrow.

The 1939 Argentinian Phonograph Record stamps are a quite an unusual and fairly valuable "modern" set (not to mention very attractive).
Can anyone else recall if any other country made special stamps just for mailing vinyl records?

With the closing of NAS Burnswick in Maine, this means the only fully operating Naval Air Station north of Florida is NAS Oceana,VA on the East Coast.
End of an Era for sure, and not sure it's a wise move on the part of the Navy, guess time will tell.

I just finished a badly needed update of Cuba on my website.
I haven't added much of anything in years bedsides a couple of the early Spanish era stamps.
However I increased the number of pages from 12 to 66.
As I'm doing with most countries I am replacing older scanned pages with newly scanned larger pages.

Yes it was primarily built as a Blimp Base, but did have a couple of full size runways,so it could handle all types of aircraft, which during its life time it did.
When Blimps were phased out in the early sixties it became primarily a Reserve air station, only a few hundred active Navy and Marines personel manned the sation, the rest of the personel there were reserve units on active duty. It did stay an active air station untill a few years back.

When our career Navy son was home on leave in late '89, took him up there to get paid, as he was due for a pay check and he was carrying his pay records with him at the time.
We took a trip down around the hangers while we were there, as the son knew a few former mates of his that were stationed there and being on active duty, he could travel the whole base with no problem.
We saw a number of P-3 Orions there for the reserves to fly on ASW patrols, but not much in the way of smaller aircraft.

Good start to the work week everyone! I'd like to thank the three great people who have purchased from us as we look at Wensy. One payment in already with one package out. Other two packages are awaiting payment and will ship promptly. Right now we'll not be adding much as business dictates we concentrate on getting coins cards and stamps on to the river. But we'll be around and if we see our covers and stamps finding new homes we'll be happy to list more!
